Double Rod Manipulation

By Amy Harder

This little video is a primer on double rod movement. Two-rod manipulation is a skill that takes time to master, so grab a puppet and play along! And remember, this demo is just the way I do it… your fingers may work differently. Experiment to see what works best for you.

Thanks for the posting of these videos! I’m currently working with a whole slew of novice and near-novice puppeteers on Transylvania Television and I have a hard time explaining techniques that I’ve simply come to over the years. Having these little vids is invaluable to helping me get them “trained in”. Thanks again!

I’m so glad you have found the vids helpful, Gordon. Keep watching… we’re working on a whole new PuppetryLab–should be up in the next couple of months. New vids, articles, authors, and a whole new look. :) Until then, enjoy what’s here and let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see.

I’ve read a lot about technique, but as a novice puppeteer these videos have been invaluable. Seeing the rod techniques demonstrated in this short video has made me feel more confident in my own technique.

Thanks!
